The Great Fire of London By Archie and Oscar
King Charles II had a good idea to build London back up again after the Great Fire of London. He said all the houses needed to be made of brick. He also rebuilt St. Pauls Cathedral in stone. We learnt that in 1666 all the houses were very close together and they were made out of wood so the houses burnt easily and the fire spread quickly. They didn’t even have a fire department to help.
That’s why now we have houses made of brick that aren’t close together and a fire department who can help.
