  • Year 2 – Tamworth Castle

Our Year 2 children had a fantastic trip to Tamworth Castle, where they stepped back in time to learn all about life in medieval castles. During the first session, the children helped a servant prepare the table for the Lady of the Castle, exploring the differences between rich and poor people in the past and comparing them to life today. In the second session, the children discovered what it took to become a squire or knight in medieval times. They enjoyed helping to dress a knight, learning about medieval weapons, and taking part in bill drill and marching exercises using safe foam bill hooks. Throughout the visit, the children explored what homes and castles were like long ago and developed their historical understanding by interpreting evidence from the past in exciting and interactive ways. It was a memorable day full of hands-on learning and fun!
