  • Nottinghamshire Parent Advice Line Information

    Thu 25 Feb 2021

A NEW ‘single point of access’ Advice Line for parents and carers has launched.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s Healthy Family Team wants parents, carers and health professionals to take advantage of the new county-wide service, which will offer advice and support over the telephone.

“It is open to any parent or carer in Nottinghamshire, we offer a universal service and any parents or children can access this.”

Topics that are covered by the Advice Line include 0-19 behaviour management and support, sleeping, emotional support, breastfeeding and infant feeding.

The Advice Line will operate Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4.30pm, and can be accessed by calling 0300 123 3387 (Option 4).

It will run alongside existing support services such as Parentline, a confidential text messaging service for parents and carers across Nottinghamshire. The texting service (text 07520 619919) is an easy way for parents and carers of children aged 0–19 years to confidentially ask for help about a range of issues, such as feeding and nutrition, child development, parenting advice and support, emotional health and wellbeing, behaviour difficulties and family health.

And a similar service, ChatHealth, operates for young people aged 11-19 years. The ChatHealth text service (text 07507 329952) is an easy way for young people to confidentially ask for help about a range of issues. They can also find out how to access other local services including emotional support or sexual health services.

  • World Book Day

Thu 25 Feb 2021 Mrs Irwin

World Book Day takes place this year on Thursday 4th March. This is a day where children and families around the world celebrate the pleasure of reading and the importance of books. This year we are very mindful that creating costumes is much harder with the closure of many shops and we have also given you have very little time.

We have picked the theme extreme reading. You will need to get your active wear on and use your permitted daily exercise to go and explore the most extreme places you can read a book. In a tree, wading through a stream or under a bridge. If you need any ideas a simple internet search of extreme reading ideas will certainly help. We would love for you to then send your photos into your class email addresses.

For the children in school please can they come in active wear also, if you have already organised a costume and your child would like to wear it, that is fine too. However, please be mindful we will be spending part of the day outside so princess shoes are probably not a good idea.

We will end the day with a story session run by Mrs Irwin. This will take place at 2.45pm and a link will be emailed to your child’s email account in the coming days.
